What Do the Others Say – Part 2

10jahreerp4students3
In recent weeks you have been able to learn a lot about erp4students. In addition to an insight into the history of the programme, all kinds of people had a chance to speak already, from employees to partners. But a few voices are still missing to complete the image. For this reason, we have asked some former course participants to share their experience with erp4students with us.

Max Kunter

Max is currently still a student at the University of Duisburg-Essen ((Master) "Technical Logistics") and works as an assistant for production logistics at Siemens AG in Krefeld. After his studies he would like to start a career in the industry, preferably to enter Logistics- or Production Planning.

Hi Max, what are your responsibilities at Siemens AG?
  • As an assistant in Production Logistics I am responsible of getting all parts in the right time to the right place. Here, the SAP-sided registration of material movement within the supply chain is in the foreground.

How many and which courses have you completed with erp4students?
  • I completed the first course with erp4students last semester: "SAP PPS - Production Planning and Control". I have already been able to gain first experience through internships and a SAP course at the University of Applied Sciences before.

How did you hear about erp4students?
  • I heard about erp4students at my University. Then I informed myself on the internet about the various courses and decided for the PPS one because it fits my career plans best.

Could you benefit from our courses or certificates of the University of Duisburg-Essen and SAP in the application process?
  • Since I´m not in the application process so far, I can´t make a statement. However, companies like to see SAP skills, from my point of view. I think that the courses may be a deciding factor in the application process.

How did you experience the course participation? What did you like the most?
  • After registration, the students quickly got the information on the process, the organization and the start of the course. After the start of the course I installed as the very first thing the SAP GUI on my PC, here already the first question came up that I asked in the forum. Since I work with a Mac, I wanted to know how other participants work with SAP. There is the possibility of an HTML - Option to work with or to run Windows over an emulator on the Mac. Quickly the first answers came on the forum that other students already work successfully with the second option. And then it started. Installation and login worked without problems. I immediately began with the first chapter. Everything is explained very clearly and structured. However, when there was a question I looked into the forum where they often had already been answered. If not, I asked my tutor. Especially I liked that I knew at any point in time how much work still had to be done and in that way I could organize exactly when I wanted to do what. The "examination papers" at the end of a chapter gave me the guarantee to be able to apply what I´ve learned and understood.

What do you think about the course structure?
  • Especially as a young person between studying, student job and private life, it is sometimes difficult to find a really free date. I loved that there are no fixed times for the online course at erp4students. So I could really decide for myself when I wanted to work on my course. The term was really sufficient for the course; frankly, I finished earlier. But this was also because the end of the term ended in my examination period. I wanted to avoid that I here additionally have the pressure of getting ready. Stefan, the tutor who was very supportive, replied incredibly quickly to e-mails, sometimes it took less than 10 minutes and this even late in the evening. Really great, he supported me actively and was able to quickly help with any questions or mistakes. He always answered friendly and helpful to emails - here I really want to praise him again! That was very professional! Regularly the progress report was updated and everyone could see which chapters had to be done again and which had already been completed. I thought it was the right mixture of theory and practice, to me it sometimes happened that there emerged questions in the practical part, which I then could look up in the theory part again to clarify my questions.

Would you recommend erp4students?
  • I clearly recommend erp4students. Although the courses are not cheap, is worth it. Particularly because the new skills can be applied directly in practice.

Markus Fuchs

Markus has completed his part-time master programme "Operations Management" in 2014 at the university in Steyr. Since 2010 he has been working in a company which is specialized in the development, production and sale of inductors for electrical power engineering, in particular dry air insulated inductors. He also has several years of professional experience in quality management and cultural understanding through international experience in South Asia.

Hi Markus, what are your responsibilities at Coil Innovation?
  • After my internship at Coil Innovation GmbH I was responsible for the production expansion of about 2200sqm, in particular the purchasing, the planning and the construction of the new production facilities. After this expansion I switched into the quality management, where we carried out the final inspection of electrical inductors. The main task was the technical documentation of the test results or the final acceptance by the customer. Today I am responsible for the Integrated Management System, which includes among others the construction of itself and the certification or acceptance by the customer. Furthermore, I am concerned with process optimization throughout the whole value chain.

How many and which courses have you completed at erp4students?
  • I have completed one course: "Integrated Business Processes with SAP ERP (TERP10)"

How did you hear about erp4students?
  • As part of my Master programme "Operation Management" I have become aware of erp4students as ERP systems, especially SAP, were key priorities in my education.

Could you benefit from our courses or certificates of the University of Duisburg-Essen and SAP in the application process?
  • An extensive knowledge in the field of business processes and the relations to the world market leader in enterprise software is a huge advantage, not only in the application process but also for the implementation in one´s own company.

How do employers react to the certificates?
  • My employer supported me in my extra education. Although we used a different ERP software in the company, some optimization could be realized already through the training.

How did you experience the course participation? What did you like the most?
  • Through the online platform and the tutors, errors could be resolved very quickly. Further, like this an ideal exchange of knowledge of the various participants could be achieved.

What do you think about the course structure?
  • The documents are very well-structured. A script is therefore always divided into the following areas: theory - practice - reflection. This promoted the transfer of learned things into practice in order to achieve the best possible learning result. The course term is optimal for all 12 parts. In addition, the scripts are prepared in a way that enables you to understand them easily later, as well. If we had questions, we always got feedback by our tutor. Alternatively, you could also talk with other participants.

Would you recommend erp4students?
  • I can definitely recommend erp4students because I see the holistic view of business processes as an essential part of a company's success. Here, an ERP system like SAP can have a supportive effect.

Anja Beckmann

Anja is 28 years old and has been working for more than 5 years full-time in the purchasing area of the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems (IMS) in Duisburg. She also has a Bachelor in Business Administration and is planning a part-time master.

How many and which courses have you completed with erp4students?
  • I have completed the course "Integrated Business Processes with SAP ERP (TERP10)".

How did you hear about erp4students?
  • I found erp4students on Google, as I was looking for training in the SAP area.

Could you benefit from our courses or certificates of the University of Duisburg-Essen and SAP in the application process?
  • Definitely! I had no professional practice experience with SAP and was hardly invited to job interviews despite my good degree and my professional experience. This changed only by indicating the participation in the SAP course at the University of Duisburg-Essen and particularly by the prospect to the certificate of SAP.

How do employers react to the certificates?
  • In my experience very positive. Such certificates can, as already mentioned above, compensate a lack of practical experience.

How did you experience the course participation? What did you like the most?
  • I especially enjoyed the support by Taymaz Khatami and Pouyan Khatami. What they both show in terms of reaction speed (response to participants' questions in the online campus) and know-how is truly exceptional. Support all around the clock! Big thank you again!

What do you think about the course structure?
  • The structure is perfectly okay. You can organize your time very well and very autonomously. I as a full-time worker was not in distress and was able to cope very well with the course in my spare time.

Would you recommend erp4students?
  • Yes, absolutely! Especially for people who may have worked already but could not collect SAP experience so far.
