This course focuses on object-oriented programming with ABAP and the development of modern, browser-based applications that are geared towards today's world of web applications and cloud systems and employ cutting-edge design and development concepts. The course builds on a solid foundation in the ABAP language and Core Data Services, which can be acquired in the “ABAP – Concepts, ABAP SQL, and Core Data Services” course. The theoretical foundations are first comprehensively covered, followed by practical exercises on the system.
The course focuses on the following three areas:
- Learning object-oriented concepts and their implementation in ABAP, intense practical application of the new knowledge by developing new programs and testing them in the SAP training system.
- Adapting SAP standard applications to customer-specific needs: Modifying or adding functions to programs and other development objects using various techniques developed for on-premise systems or the cloud.
- Developing modern, browser-based applications with Web Dynpro and the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model.
The practical programming exercises are conducted using our SAP training system. This system already includes a lot of practical sample data that you can use in the exercises. This allows you to test your own programs conveniently and without unnecessary additional effort.
In addition to guided exercises that teach the basic, necessary techniques, there is also a less guided case study section in which you independently apply the concepts learned in the course.
Learning Targets
After completing the course, you will have both theoretical knowledge and practical experience with the object-oriented concepts of ABAP. The acquired knowledge will enable you to develop your own object-oriented programs and adapt existing SAP standard applications to meet customer requirements. You will not only learn the various techniques available for tackling tasks, but will also be able to independently select and implement appropriate methods for specific problems. Furthermore, you will learn how to develop your own browser-based applications using Web Dynpro technology. You will also be able to develop applications using the advanced ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model.

SAP Certification Exam
After successfully completing the course, students are handed out the certificate of the Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences, stating the course contents, the practical work on the case study, as well as the workload of 150 - 180 hours (6 ECTS). The official SAP certification in ABAP (C_ABAPD) requires the content of the following consecutive courses:
