Job Profile: SAP End User

Imagine the following: you are an employee of a company, no matter in which industry,and you sell goods that have to be produced, for example. For this, you have to procure the individual parts that regulate finances, accounting, controlling, sales, logistics and/or personnel administration. In all these business processes, there are tons of data involved that you cannot handle analogously. Therefore, enterprise resource planning software is used that maps and handles these processes. This way, the company saves time, money and capacity,provided that the employees are capable of dealing with the existing system, and provided that the system has been adapted and implemented according to the needs of the company. Not every company is the same and not every department carries out or requires the same procedures and processes. Therefore, SAP offers a wide range of individual solutions. As a user, you are responsible for working with these solutions and controlling and executing the processes (of your department) within the company and the day-to-day businesses.

SAP CO in utilization:

As a user, you come into contact with SAP CO primarily in business accounting, specifically in cost accounting. Cost accounting is used to inform, plan and control costs and revenues. The most important basic functions of the corresponding SAP application, SAP CO, are in overhead cost controlling (CO-OM), in product cost controlling (CO-PC), in profitability and market segment accounting (CO-PA) and in profit center accounting (EC-PCA). With SAP CO, you can record and determine all types of costs in a company, as well as where and for what they were incurred. As a controller, you provide the necessary information for planning and controlling costs and revenues as well as for operational decision-making processes. With the help of SAP CO, you will compare the planned (target costs) and incurred costs (actual costs) with each other. This allows decisions made to be evaluated and justified. In addition, future company-related decisions can be prepared for and influenced. The cost analysis with SAP CO provides important information for decisions in the areas of corporate strategy, price and sales policy, as well as production program, process and provision planning.

SAP FI in utilization:

As an end user, you come into contact with SAP FI primarily in the commercial area, specifically in financial accounting. If you work as an FI end user, company accounting is your area of responsibility. Here, you deal with the general ledger accounts and also with accounts receivable and payable accounting, investment and bank accounting. With the help of SAP FI, you will not only record all business transactions seamlessly and systematically, but also make the preparation of the balance sheet and the income statement. For example, SAP FI tracks special G/L transactions and supports dunning and payment transactions as well as activities in the individual financial statements.

Materials and Process Manager

As a materials and process manager, you are responsible for managing the inventory and procuring processes of raw materials and other materials used in a company. You evaluate and optimize the material flow and control the internal or external service providers such as the central warehouse or logistics service providers. You will use your expertise to ensure that the company's goals around ​​material provision, production, and logistics (time, scope, budget, quality) are achieved and that performance and quality gradually improve. Your responsibilities also include working with customers and suppliers (maintaining relationships, negotiations), purchasing materials as well as coordinating incoming goods and storage processes, controlling inventory levels, and ensuring material availability. Close communication with management, the supervision, evaluation and further training of employees and the detailed documentation of your projects as well as forecasts of future orders will probably also fall into your area of ​​responsibility.

Sales/Distribution Manager:

As a sales/distribution manager, you are responsible in a company for the organizational tasks that are involved in the sale of goods and services. You will also work in customer service and personnel management, be responsible for product training for employees and help with the development of marketing strategies. You make decisions about sales methods and channels, coordinate delivery dates, calculate costs, and control the results. As a sales/distribution manager, you will work at the interface between controlling, marketing, and human resources management. You will also likely work closely with the executive board to define tasks and goals for internal departments.

SAP PP in utilization:

If you work in production planning and control, with the help of SAP PP you will coordinate and organize which products are to be manufactured in which quantities in a specific planning period, which quantities of individual parts are required at what point in time, in which partial quantities the individual ones parts of the product chain are to be produced or procured and when the individual product parts are to be produced, taking into account the available capacities of the production system. Also when which production orders are integrated into the production system and in which order the production orders waiting in front of the individual workstations or production systems are to be processed, is your responsibility and is planned and carried out by you. For example, if you work in PP process management, then you are responsible for the organization and further development of the ERP systems with a view to supply chain management. You also support and look after the internal users of SAP PP. You will also take care of the analysis, standardization, optimization and documentation of processes in SAP PP. The planning as well as the organization and implementation of acceptance tests for new developments and upgrades also fall within your area of ​​responsibility.

SAP Data Analyst:

Your role as a data analyst is to analyze, structure, and (in terms of information technology) continuously improve the processes within a company, so that both the company and its employees can work optimally. For this, you have to pay close attention to the needs of your customers and develop specific solutions based on their requirements. Your ideas and results will then be checked for feasibility together with the IT department and then implemented accordingly. The aim is to develop and implement new products for old and current problems while complying with the (economic) quality standard desired by the company you are working with/for. Data analysts are BW power users and generate in-depth information requests that go beyond the capabilities of simple information consumers. You can freely move through the data provided and use different tools to obtain other extracts or views on the data. The focus is less on the technical aspects of the BW solution, as this target group uses SAP BW tools with the intention of solving a concrete business problem. Typical representatives of this group are controller or financial analysts.

You will recognize the key drivers of strategic, operational, and financial plans and automatically forecast future business benefits. This optimizes business processes in terms of time and economy and improves business results. The predictive analyzes and machine learning options provided by SAP SAC on the system side also help to optimize and automate operational processes. With powerful calendar functions and functions for internal collaboration, you ensure dynamic workflows within the company and across departments. Typical representatives of this group are business planners, controllers, and financial planners.
